The 2026 Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever sees thousands of Kiwis's don flowing red dresses and gathering in parks across the country to recreate Kate Bush's unforgettable 1978 music video for Wuthering Heights.

Held each July to celebrate Kate Bush's birthday, this joyful global event combines music, dance, fun and fundraising as communities embrace one of pop culture's most delightfully eccentric traditions.

The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever

The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever is a worldwide celebration inspired by Kate Bush's iconic hit Wuthering Heights. Participants, affectionately known as "Cathys", gather dressed in red to perform the famous choreography from the music video, while friends and supporters, known as "Heathcliffs", cheer them on, capture the moment and enjoy the spectacle.

Inspired by Shambush's The Ultimate Kate Bush Experience, first staged in Brighton, England, in 2013 as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival, the event has grown into a global phenomenon attracting thousands of participants each year.

Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever New Zealand 2026

New Zealand has become one of the world's biggest supporters of the event, with gatherings taking place in cities and regional centres across the country.

Events will once again be held across New Zealand in parks and open spaces to celebrate Kate Bush's music while supporting local charities and causes.

Whether you're dancing as a Cathy in your finest red dress or attending as a Heathcliff to encourage family and friends, everyone is welcome to join this unique celebration.

2026 New Zealand

Wellington (Pōneke): Sunday, July 26, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Soundshell in the Wellington Botanic Gardens. Free preparation workshops are held in July at Thistle Hall and Johnsonville Community Hall.

Christchurch: Saturday, July 25, 2:00 PM at Sumner Village Green, Nayland St (next to the skate park).

Whaingaroa (Raglan): Sunday, July 26, 11:30 AM. Weather permitting, with a rain date of August 2.

Blackball: Saturday, July 25, starting at 11:30 AM in central Blackball.

Auckland & Nelson: Events are tentatively planned for Sunday, July 26. (Nelson begins at 11:00 AM at 1903).

Wānaka: An event is in the works, with the exact location TBA depending on numbers
