Easter Weekend 2026: What's On

Easter is four-day weekend, choccy egg full of fabulous things to do.

Beginning on Easter Friday (3rd April), Saturday (4th April), Sunday (5th April) and ending on Easter Monday (6th April) gives Kiwis a four day long weekend.

Easter New Zealand celebrations are similar to those that take place all around the world.

Though Easter falls in Autumn in New Zealand, like all the countries in the Southern Hemisphere, it's still traditional to host typically springtime activities, like Easter Egg hunts.

Kiwi families get together and celebrate Easter over a special home-cooked meal. The most popular meal to serve at an Easter celebration is a roasted leg of lamb. Kiwi children get involved in the Easter celebrations with Easter egg hunts, painting eggs, and making Easter bonnets.
