Museum of Transport and Technology: Open Hours

MOTAT opened in 1964 and since then has been explored and enjoyed by millions of visitors.

MOTAT holds over 300,000 items in our collection showcasing the innovation, technology and ingenuity of Aotearoa. Take a moment to explore the collection and the fascinating stories of the people and places connected to it. MOTAT's permanent and short-term exhibitions draw on objects from our extensive collection to engage minds and tell inspiring stories of transport, technology and Kiwi ingenuity.

Open daily, 10am - 4pm. MOTAT is set across two spacious locations, with a tramway linking the sites. A ride aboard the free heritage tram service is popular for visitors big and small.

WE ARE OPEN DAILY, 10AM-4PM.

Last entry permitted into the museum at 3.30pm. We recommend you plan at least 3 hours to experience both sites.

MOTAT is open all public holidays except Christmas Day.
