Crowded House

Crowded House

Crowded House formed in 1985 with Neil Finn, Paul Hester and Nick Seymour along with Tim Finn, Mitchell Froom and Mark Hart.

Between 1985 and 1996 hits included Dont Dream Its Over, Something So Strong, Better Be Home Soon, Fall at Your Feet and Weather With You.

Crowded House disbanded in 1996 after their "Farewell To The World" concert on the steps of the Sydney Opera House, the concert had one of the highest live audiences in Australian history (120k+ people).

In 1997, the group re-formed with a new drummer (Matt Sherrod) releasing two albums (Time on Earth and Intriguer), then went on another hiatus. They reunited in 2020 with a new line-up featuring Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom, and Finn's sons Liam and Elroy and have toured ever since. Their most recent album, Gravity Stairs, was released in 2024.

As of 2021, Crowded House have sold over 15 million albums worldwide. In November 2016, the band was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

Crowded House

The name "Crowded House"was inspired by the cramped accommodation in Hollywood where the band spent 1985 rehearsing their debut album. The band was originally called "The Mullanes", Mullane being Neil Finns middle name.
