AFL is in its 10th season in 2025.
Kangaroos (North Melbourne) are the reigning premiers (2024), winning their 1st premiership in 2024.

First ever NIGHT Grand Final
The inaugural eight teams of the AFLW were Carlton, Collingwood, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Western Bulldogs, GWS and Fremantle. The league expanded to 10 teams in season three, 14 in season five, and all 18 in season seven.
The AFLW grand final has been held since the first AFLW season in 2017 (no 2020 Grand Final - covid). There was no finals series in the first two seasons. In 2022, due to the change in season dates, there were two finals played in the same year. Adelaide has won the title three times, Brisbane twice.
